Going that extra mile…
This Sunday Glasgow Memory Clinic’s Clinic Development Manager, Alison Cranmer, will put her best foot forward to take part in The Dundee Kiltwalk. Setting off from the spectacular and renowned surroundings of St Andrews, Alison will take on the ‘Might Stride’, a 25-mile amble that takes in the several of the city’s iconic sites.
‘Might Striders’ will set off at 9am and will have the chance to take some time out at six picturesque Pit Stops along the way:
Pit Stop 1: Old Eden Mill Pit Stop 2: Tentsmuir National Reserve
Pit Stop 3: Tayport Pit Stop 4: The Tay Bridge Kiosk
Pit Stop 5: Dundee Docks Pit Stop 6: Broughty Castle
Alison will cross the finish line at Monifieth Beach where a well-deserved hot meal, a few drinks and a night of entertainment will be waiting.
Alison had this to say about the event: ‘I’m not a stranger to lengthy walks as I’ve previously taken part in the Edinburgh MoonWalk which was a fabulous experience. I’m really looking forward to my first Kiltwalk, particularly as I’ll get to take in and enjoy so many beautiful views around Dundee. This is the first time in three years that the Kiltwalk is back in Dundee so I’m pleased to be given the opportunity.
I’m absolutely delighted to be raising money for ENABLE Scotland, a charitable organisation that strives to ensure people who have learning disabilities have the same choices and opportunities in life as everyone else.
I’d also like to say a big thank you to my colleagues at Glasgow Memory Clinic who are sponsoring me to take part in the event. I really want to get in to the spirit of things but as I don’t own a kilt, I need to find something tartan to wear!’
As well as the Might Stride, there will be two other walks taking place on the day: a Big Stroll and a Wee Wander. The Big Stroll is an 11 mile walk that takes in some of the beautiful scenic views that Dundee has to offer. The Wee Wander is ideal for all the family to get involved with.
