Research doctors from Glasgow Memory Clinic will present data on a large series of research lumbar punctures conducted at the clinic.

This pioneering work conducted in the clinic’s own dedicated unit shows that the research lumbar puncture is a safe and well tolerated procedure.

The 13th Geneva Springfield Symposium will be hosted at the International Conference Centre, Geneva Switzerland – March 26-29, 2014 it is anticipated approximately 1500 participants, mostly neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatricians and pharmacologists will attend. Leading scientists will discuss new targets and drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and novel approaches to current therapy.

The clinic Director of Research Dr Fraser Inglis said ‘ this is an important piece of work that we have pioneered at the clinic. Lumbar puncture is being used increasingly as a procedure to facilitate the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and the data shows that the procedure can be safe and well tolerated. We look forward to presenting and discussing our data with other international researchers’.
