The world’s most detailed brain scan signals a promising new hope for Alzheimer’s research

Scientists at Cardiff University recently carried out the most detailed scan of the brain’s internal wiring. This advance in technology has led to Doctors being very hopeful it will increase understanding of a range of neurological disorders.

The extraordinary images produced in Cardiff are the result of a special MRI Scanner – one of only three in the world. The scanner is currently being used for research into many neurological conditions including MS, schizophrenia, dementia and epilepsy.

This opens up huge possibilities for researchers in that they can start to look at the structure and function of the brain together, for the first time
